This data is from a class survey of my sixth grade students taken in October 2010. The survey was part of a reading of an article in Time for Kids Magazine about the sleeping habits of young people, and how digital devices are impacting sleep.
A survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 71% of kids ages 8 to 18 have a TV in their room. About 36% of kids have a computer in their room.
Experts say children ages 5 to 12 should get 10 to 11 hours of sleep each night. But according to a poll by the National Sleep Foundation, kids are only snoozing an average of nine and a half hours a night.
